Signal Processing is a piece of music created on a night in feburary 2002. A night i chose not to sleep , by mid afternoon I was finishing up the last bits of recordings and could barely keep my eyes open.Recorded trumpet and feedback noises onto micro cassette then over dubbed beats from records and scratching onto a regular cassette the dubbed that cassette onto another while dubbing again. Lots of tape saturation and bouncing going on here.An old experiment finally unearhted onto the... Topic: "Signal Processing,Signal,Processing,Flex Unger,BRnet03,BRSS 03," Source: Pasquale Cangiano
In this paper review of various methods andapproaches that are used for the detection and classificationof power quality (PQ) events are presented. Survey has beendivided into two main categories one in which only singleevents are considered and another in which combined eventsare considered. Table has been also designed to present thecomparative analysis of some references. Application ofwavelet, need of power quality indices and optimizationtechniques has been also described in the paper. The... Topics: PQ, Signal Processing, Soft-computing.
This paper is practical design and implementation of open architecture control, alarm and monitoring system. Modern ships have an automatic system control which includes control, alarm and monitoring system that have access to all process control station and can monitor them. The control system control several types of self-running process control station, each type is dictated to specific task. The alarm system is connected to sensors everywhere in the ship and continuously monitors them, if... Topics: : IMO, SOLAS, Ship Control, Signal Processing, Sensors
This paper is practical design and implementation of an Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) is a specific form of computer-based navigation information system that complies with International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations and can be used in lieu of paper navigation charts in some areas. Not all electronic chart systems can be called an ECDIS, but the term is often incorrectly used to refer to any type of Electronic Chart System (ECS). The true ECDIS system displays... This first video from Xiph.Org presents the technical foundations of modern digital media via a half-hour firehose of information. One community member called it "a Uni lecture I never got but really wanted." The program offers a brief history of digital media, a quick summary of the sampling theorem, and myriad details of low level audio and video characterization and formatting. It's intended for budding geeks looking to get into video coding, as well as the technically curious who... Topic: digital, signal processing, pcm, audio, digital video

The aim of this book is to present, to a broad audience, mathematical tools and algorithms for signal representation. It comprehensively covers both classical Fourier techniques and newer basis constructions from filter banks and multiresolution analysisâwavelets. Furthermore, it gives a synthetic view from basic mathematical principles, to construction of bases, all the way to concrete applications. Topics: Wavelets, Signal Processing, Mathematics, Fourrier transform
In this work, an algorithm has been proposed for real time detection and classification of beluga whale calls. The detection algorithm is based on an adaptive activity detector that exploits a priori knowledge of the longest/ shortest beluga whale sound unit. Optimum parameter values of the proposed detector are obtained by simulation to maximize the difference between Detection Probability and False Alarm Probability. A set of features that allow successful classification by means of a Naive... Topics: Statistical Signal Processing, Signal Detection and Classification, Nonlinear Acoustics, Marine...

A live screen-video of a 2-hour introductory tutorial on using SuperCollider 3.3 for music synthesis and audio effects. The tutorial was given by Dan Stowell at the Centre for Digital Music (Queen Mary University of London) on 2009-01-15. The first half covers some of the basics, plus sound synthesis and sound processing. The second half shows you how to put the building blocks together into musical patterns, including how to include randomness into your compositions. Topics: supercollider, audio, music, synthesis, digital signal processing, patterns, composition, generative
This paper about Prioritization which is essential for mission-critical application with an assortment of voice and data services crowding the network. It is important to have Prioritization of mission- and time-critical traffic for optimum utilization of bandwidth for high-value apps and maintenance of quality of service (QoS) levels. With communications convergence becoming a reality today, business success hinges on protecting business-critical network traffic. In such a scenario, management... The linear model of the Stirling system developed by NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) has been extended to include a user-specified heat input. Previously developed linear models were limited to the Stirling convertor and electrical load. They represented the thermodynamic cycle with pressure factors that remained constant. The numerical values of the pressure factors were generated by linearizing GRC's nonlinear System Dynamic Model (SDM) of the convertor at a chosen operating point. The... Continuing in the "firehose" tradition of Episode 01, Xiph.Org's second video on digital media explores multiple facets of digital audio signals and how they really behave in the real world. Demonstrations of sampling, quantization, bit-depth, and dither put digital audio through its paces on consumer-grade audio equipment using both modern digital analysis and vintage analog equipment (Just in case we can't trust those newfangled digital gizmos). You can download the demo application... Topic: digital, signal processing, pcm, audio, sampling, dither, quantization
